Studio News and Announcements

FALL 2012:

UNI Viola Festival 2012 featured guest artist Juliet White-Smith from Ohio State University, who presented a recital and two master classes. She also performed on the final Gala Concert. The Gala Concert also included performances by Julia Bullard, and guest violists Christine Rutledge, Diane Phoenix-Neal, William Preucil, and Holly Schult, along with Jean McDonald (mezzo soprano), Dmitri Vorobiev (piano), and the UNI Viola Festival Ensembles. Nearly 40 violists participated in the festival!

Congratulations to Alyssa Adamec, finalist in the UNI Concerto Competition. She performed the fourth movement of Bloch's Suite (1919) for Viola and Orchestra.

Congratulations to grad student John Chiles for winning an alternate spot in the Waterloo Cedar Falls Symphony viola section!

Congratulations to alumna Holly Schult for winning the viola section position in the Waterloo Cedar Falls Symphony!

Congratulations to grad student Andrea Alert for winning substitute positions in Orchestra Iowa and in the Dubuque Symphony!

Congratulations to alumna Kendra (Milder) Elledge and her husband Michael on the birth of their first child, daughter Lily! :)

Spring 2012:

Congratulations to Hanno Fenech (Cedar Falls High School student of Dr. Bullard) on his acceptance to Madeline Island Music Camp for Summer 2012!

Congratulations to Mariya Bogodist who will be graduating with her MM in May, and to Joyce Payer who will be student teaching next semester in Des Moines!

Congratulations to freshman violist ALYSSA ADAMEC for her performance in the UNI Concerto Competition Finals! She did a great job.

The UNI Viola Festival 2011 was a great success!  Violist Patricia McCarty presented a recital, master classes, and an orchestral excerpts class. She also performed a solo work and Brandenburg 6 with Dr. Bullard on the Gala Concert. UNI alum Justin Taylor performed the Bridge Lament with Dr. Bullard on the Gala Concert as well. There was a viola ensemble conducted by Dr. Bullard and guest violist and composer Dr. Michael Kimber, and students from all over Iowa participated. Congratulations to all of the outstanding students who performed in master classes and in the viola ensemble! We look forward to next year's festival!

Congratulations to UNI alumna Holly Schult, who has been appointed to a full-time teaching position with the UNI Suzuki School!

Dr. Bullard will be returning to teach at Madeline Island Music Camp and Festival in Summer 2012.
